Child Study Association of America records, 1890-1965 (bulk 1928-1960).

Included in the collection are records of predecessor organizations: the Society for the Study of Child Nature (1890-1908), which became the Federation for Child Study in about 1908. In 1924, the Federation was incorporated under the new name, Child Study Association of America, from which the collection includes board and committee minutes; program files from the study group department, speakers bureau, and family guidance and consultation service; and professional and personal papers of staff members, particularly Sidonie Gruenberg and Josette Frank. Also included are records of two related entities: the Inter-Community Child Study Committee (which sought to address the special parent education needs of black communities around 1930) and the National Council of Parent Education.
